Picking the Right Wedding Flowers for Hand-Held Bouquets

Though often overlooked, flowers tend to play a major role in weddings. From the centerpieces on each table, the flowers in each bridesmaid’s hand, and finally the bride’s bouquet itself, beautiful blooms tend to be an important part of each wedding. When looking to purchase the bride’s bouquet, there are typically three main types.

The first type of bouquet is known as a cascade style arrangement. In this type, the wedding flowers are shaped like a waterfall – the majority of flowers are at the top, and a ‘stream’ of flowers cascades down from the main bunch. This type of arrangements tends to contain a blend of flowers and greenery.

The second type of bouquet is known as a round arrangement. As the name indicates, with this style the flowers are arranged in a round shape. This type of bouquet contains less greenery than the typical cascade style bouquet, and often contains multiple types of flowers tied together. This is often known as a very traditional style bouquet.

The third type is known as a hand tied bouquet. With this arrangement the flowers are loosely tied together, often with an elegant ribbon, and the stems are left long enough to show at the bottom. The wedding flowers contained in this bouquet can be of the same type, or of several different types depending upon one’s personal preference.

The type of bouquet that should be chosen depends not only upon one’s personal preference, but also on what will be worn or how the flowers should affect the way the bridge or bridesmaids look. Certain style bouquets can be more slimming, some are more suitable for taller brides, and others give a more casual feel to the event. When looking for a company to buy your wedding flowers from, you can also look to see if they have any tips and advice to help you find the bouquet that is right for you.
